In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Union minister of state for defence and tourism Ajay Bhatt said while talking to the media persons at Mukhani that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation of the multipurpose Jamrani Dam Project already approved by the Union Cabinet in January next. He further said that tendering process will be initiated after the Deepawali. Hitting out at the Congress, he said that had then Congress government at the Centre approved the project in 1975, the project cost would not have come to the present estimate of Rs 2584 crore. “The double- engine government will see to it that this project is commissioned by 2028,” he said. Expressing gratitude to the PM for bringing it under the ambit of the PM Agriculture Irrigation Scheme, he said that the Centre will now bear 90 per cent of the estimated cost of this project instead of the earlier 80 per cent. “The rest 10 per cent cost will be borne by Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh governments,” Bhatt said.
