PM’s stance on UCC motivating for the party & govt: Bhatt

Thursday, 29 June 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The president of Uttarakhand BJP, Mahendra Bhatt has said that the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is motivating for the State. He said that notwithstanding the opposition, the UCC would be implemented in the State.

In a statement Bhatt said on Wednesday that the opposition parties are stating that the steps taken in the direction of the UCC are being taken with an eye on the elections but they also know it pretty well that the BJP has always remained in favour of UCC and it has remained in its election manifestos of the past. He reminded that the BJP had promised the people before the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2022 that it would implement UCC in the State and now the State government has taken decisive decisions in this regard.

Bhatt said that the clarity in which PM Modi presented the subject before the entire nation during the virtual dialogue with the party workers has enthused the BJP government and party organisation in the State.

Taking dig at the parties opposing the UCC, the BJP leaders said that there are the parties which turn a blind eye towards the conspiracies to change the demography of the State. “These are the people who do not feel any need for a strong religious conversion law and they find nothing wrong in Love and Land Jihad,’’ he said.

On a firm note, Bhatt said that the opposition of UCC by these parties does not make any difference and would not deter the party from moving on the subject. For BJP the sentiments expressed by the 1.25 crore people of the State in favour of UCC are of paramount importance, Bhatt said. He reiterated that the UCC would be implemented in the State and Uttarakhand would be the first State to implement the UCC in the country.
