PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni has said that the allegation of sexual harassment on the BJP councillor of Municipal Corporation of Rudrapur, Shivkumar Gangwar has again exposed the character and conduct of the BJP leaders.
She said that a woman and her minor daughter have alleged that Gangwar had sexually harassed them on the day of Holi in the Transit camp area. The case was investigated by the SP crime, Niharika Tomar and on initial investigation a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against Gangwar.
She said that it is unfortunate that the culprit is still at large and the BJP which has given the slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has remained silent on the issue. Dasauni said that in the last few months, half a dozen cases of crime against women have been registered against BJP leaders in different parts of the State. She demanded that the Police should act in an impartial manner and should not come under any political pressure in such cases.
