Police act against traffic violations amid New Year’s celebration

The Dehradun police towed over 156 vehicles and seized 25 vehicles for traffic violations in the past two days as part of its safety arrangements for New Year celebrations in the district. The police have been taking strict action against those vehicle owners who obstruct traffic and violate traffic rules.
The police on Saturday and till late Sunday evening towed over 156 vehicles and issued challan against the vehicle owners. The police also penalised 15 vehicle owners for violating rules and blocking traffic besides seizing the vehicles, as per the officials. Besides this, the police also took action against 10 vehicle owners for drunk driving and seized their vehicles. The officials said that the traffic police also used drones to monitor the traffic and impose penalties accordingly. The police penalised over 60 vehicles using drones.
Besides this, the police also issued 359 challans through the red light violation detection system and speed violation detection system, said officials. They said that the police have installed barriers and deployed police personnel across the district to ensure security and safety during New Year celebrations on December 31 and January 1.
