Police acting diligently to check crimes- DGP

The Uttarakhand police is acting with full diligence to check crimes with strict action being taken against the guilty. There has been a rise in crimes but prompt action of the police is ensuring that the criminals are put behind bars. The director general of police Ashok Kumar said this while interacting with the public at a meet here on Sunday. The citizens communicated their grievances to the DGP who directed the officials concerned to take necessary action to resolve the issues.
Addressing the people, Kumar said that the cooperation of public is also important for curbing crimes. Better coordination between the police and public is essential for this purpose. The DGP said that the people also face inconvenience when at times the police are unable to lodge a report in cases of vehicle theft. Considering this, the police will be introducing the e-FIR system to enable the citizens to lodge online reports. This system will be started in one month. He further said that the police are alert in view of rising incidents of cyber crime. More effective steps are being taken now to catch cyber criminals and check cyber crimes. The special task force has also been involved for catching cyber criminals, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Haldwani mayor Jogendra Pal Singh Rautela appreciating the works of the police, stating that the department is working in a better manner due to which crimes have been checked to a considerable extent. The Haldwani MLA Sumit Hridayesh expressed concern at the rising substance abuse. Deputy inspector general Nilesh Anand Bharne, senior superintendent of police Pankaj Bhatt and other police officers along with citizens were also present at the interaction.
