Police arrest four family members for killing woman with pressure cooker

The police on Tuesday arrested three men and a woman of the same family for allegedly killing a young woman Roopa with a pressure cooker in Rishikesh on Monday. The police have registered a case against seven persons out of which four were arrested on Tuesday.
The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh informed that according to the victim’s family, a dispute occurred between them and Baijnath Sahni and his family members on Sunday evening in Rishikesh’s Bengali Basti in Mayakund area.
According to them, the family was continuously abusing and hitting the victim and her family and during this she was hit with a pressure cooker. She sustained a serious head injury and was taken to AIIMS- Rishikesh where she died during treatment. Considering this, the police registered a case against them on Monday and arrested four accused on Tuesday evening. They have been identified as Baijnath Sahni and his wife Sunaina Sahni along with their sons Shivshankar Sahni and Ladoo Sahni.
Singh said that the police have also recovered the pressure cooker used to kill the victim. The police are also looking for three absconding accused involved in hitting the woman who will be nabbed soon too, the SSP added.
