The police have arrested a Himachal Pradesh resident Bunty Sharma (23) for committing theft in locked houses in the Vikasnagar area of Dehradun district. He was committing these thefts with the help of his accomplice. The accused has also been jailed for various incidents of theft and robbery in various police stations of Himachal Pradesh and had come out of jail some time ago after serving his sentence, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. He said that there were major incidents of theft in different police stations of Vikasnagar in recent times. The police have done good work and resolved all cases of theft in locked houses. The police have recovered 100 per cent of stolen goods from the arrested accused, claimed Singh. He said that the complainant Surender Singh had registered a written complaint at Selaqui police station on October 29 stating that somebody broke into his house and stole money and jewellery when he had gone to his relative’s house for a few days. The police registered a case under relevant sections and started the investigation. The police started the investigation with the verification process of those criminals who were involved in such incidents in the past to interrogate them. The police also checked CCTV footage of the area that matched with the profiles of two accused who were arrested in the past for similar offences. After getting a tip-off from the informer, the police team located two accused on a bike on the unpaved road from Kulhal to Dhaulatappad in the Vikasnagar area. They tried to stop the accused but one of them was able to flee from the spot. The police arrested the other accused and interrogated him. He revealed the name of the absconding person as Jitendra Sharma (23), who is the son of his aunt, with whom he used to commit thefts and robberies. The arrested accused will be presented in the court soon and police will nab Jitendra soon as well, the SSP added.
