Police arrest Kunwar’s son for scamming duo in DGP’s name

The Dehradun police arrested absconded accused Shivam Singh Kunwar (22) day after his father Daulat Singh Kunwar, national convener of the Indian Constitutional Rights Protection Forum was arrested for scamming two advocates in the name of director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar. The DGP directed the police to register a case against the father-son duo on Monday evening after two advocates complained to him that the duo had allegedly extorted Rs 10 lakh from them in the name of donation to DGP. They accused father-son of intimidating them in the name of other senior police officers to extort money from them. He also threatened to kill them when they asked them to return their money, as per the police. The police on Tuesday started the investigation and arrested Daulat Kunwar by the afternoon but his son remained absconded. There are at least four cases registered against the Kunwar in Vikasnagar and Kalsi police stations under various sections in the past. The police informed that Kunwar was presented in court on Tuesday and sent to police custody. His son Shivam was arrested on Wednesday and the police said that they are looking into his criminal history too.
