The Pauri district police arrested a man accused of molesting a minor in the Paithani area.The police team arrested the accused within three days of a complaint being lodged against him. According to the police, a local resident of Paithani had lodged a complaint in the local police station on March 19. The complainant had stated that Pankaj Singh Rawat had molested his minor daughter. On the basis of this report, the police registered a case against Pankaj Singh Rawat under sections 376 and 506 of Indian Penal Code and 3/4 of POCSO Act. Additional superintendent of police Manisha Joshi constituted a police team under the supervision of circle officer Prem Lal Tamta. The investigation officer sub inspector Deepika Bisht during the investigation got the medical examination of the victim conducted and registered her statement under section 164 of CrPC.The police then removed IPC section 376 and 3/4 POCSO Act and instead added IPC section 354 and 7/8 POCSO Act. The police team raided various places including the native village of the accused- Barath before finally arresting him.
