Police arrest two with smack worth Rs 82 lakh

The police arrested two men from Selaqui and Malviya road in Dehradun with smack worth Rs 82 lakh. The senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the police arrested a man named Wajid from Raja Road in Selaqui with 172 grammes of smack during late night checking on Sunday. The market price of the smack is Rs 51.6 lakh. Singh said that the accused revealed during interrogation that he is a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh and buys the smack from his relative Intezaar in Bareilly at low prices. He earns profit by selling the smack to local people and students around industrial areas and educational institutions in Dehradun. The police are making efforts to arrest the accused Intezaar. The police also registered an FIR against the arrested accused under the NDPS Act. The SSP said that on the same night, a joint team of the police and Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) was conducting checks in the Lakshman Chowk area. The team asked a person coming from Malviya Road to stop as he appeared suspicious but he started running. The police caught him and found 101.94 grammes of smack during the search besides an electronic weighing scale and Rs 5,500 cash. He told the police during interrogation that he used to work as a mason but got into drug smuggling after he got acquainted with Rashid, a smack supplier. He started selling the drug to local addicts and students of educational institutions in Dehradun and nearby areas. The police registered a case against him and will catch Rashid soon too, the SSP added.
