The police arrested all seven accused in the sensational Raipur shootout case within 48 hours of registering the case. The police arrested three accused, Sagar Yadav and the brothers, Sonu Bharadwaj and Monu Bharadwaj on Monday.
The two more accused Ramvir Singh and Ankush were arrested from Rajasthan and Dehrdaun respectively on Tuesday. The remaining two accused Manish Kumar Singh and Yogesh Singh were arrested in the wee hours of Wednesday after a police encounter in Haridwar’s Roorkee. They both sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to a hospital for treatment. The police recovered one revolver, one pistol, four live cartridges, three shells and a motorcycle without a license plate from Manish and Yogesh.
The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that it was revealed during the interrogation that the accused Ankush and Yadav had deliberately created a misunderstanding between the deceased Deepak Badola alias Ravi and the main accused Sonu Bharadwaj and Monu Bharadwaj. Ankush had told the Bharadwaj brothers, Ramvir and others that Badola was coming along with Subhash Chhetri and Manoj Negi to kill them due to which they shot at them multiple times as soon as they saw them near their house at Dobhal Chowk.
The SSP said that Ankush had a personal rivalry with Badola. When he came to know that Yadav had mortgaged Badola’s car for Rs 4.25 lakh without his consent and he was coming with few people to get it back, he planned to instigate the Bharadwaj brothers and others against them. Yadav also supported him because he wanted Badola’s car. They lied to others that Badola was coming to kill them with his accomplices. This led to the shootout in the area. The SSP said that they will seek police remand of the accused in court on Friday.
Besides this, he said that a dedicated inspector has also been assigned to act against illegal money lenders that torture and harass people to recover money. “People can approach the police regarding such matters and our financial fraud unit will take strict action against them,” he said.
