Police ban drones in Nainital, deploy anti-drone team ahead of President’s visit

Police have banned all types of drones in Nainital for two days and will deploy the anti-drone team to carry out surveillance in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the State starting on Monday. The president will attend the convocation ceremony at Kumaun University and visit Kainchi Dham to pay respects to Neem Karoli Baba in Nainital district as part of her two-day programme. The security agencies across the district are on high alert. Nainital Police, under Nainital senior superintendent of police Manjunath T.C, have implemented strict security and traffic measures. Yeh additional director general of police (Law and Order) V Murugesan briefed officers and personnel, providing instructions to maintain vigilance and manage public areas, roads and checkpoints. Bomb Disposal Squad, Law and Intelligence Unit (LIU) teams, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Bomb Detection Squad and social media monitoring units have been placed in active mode. He instructed officers to monitor the surroundings, maintain identification documents, avoid unnecessary mobile phone use and report any suspicious activity immediately. A total of 31 gazetted officers, 302 inspectors and sub-inspectors, 938 head constables and constables, along with Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) platoons, fire services, ATS, SDRF and BDS teams, have been deployed for security and traffic management. The district administration and police have coordinated to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience during the VVIP movement.
The ADG emphasised that all personnel must remain alert at duty points and follow instructions until the completion of the visit. Verification campaigns across the district and strengthened border checks have also been ordered. The measures aim to ensure the President’s visit proceeds smoothly without any hassle, the ADG said.
