Police bust fake international call centre in Doon

The police busted a fake international call centre involved in scamming foreigners under the pretext of booking international flights here on Friday. Three men including two natives of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh and one hailing from Panchkula in Haryana were arrested along with various equipment used in their operations.

The police had been receiving confidential information about the fake call centre being operated from the third floor of a commercial building near Canal Road in the Rajpur area. The police teams raided the location on Thursday night and found a call centre comprising 65 cabins in a large hall. Youth sitting in these cabins were attending various calls while claiming to be representatives of international flight booking companies to seek details of the debit/credit cards of their targets. Thepolice apprehended three persons conducting the call centre. They were identified as Haryana native Vikas, Mohammed Monish and Mannu Yadav- both from UP. During questioning, the main accused Vikas said that he was the manager of the call centre and was operating it along with his two accomplices. They used to target people in Canada and the USA. The owner of the call centre is Delhi resident Apul Mittal, he said. They used to call foreigners and secure details of the credit or debit cards. Flight tickets of some of the foreigners were booked but most of them were duped after receipt of payment. The accused are believed to have duped people of lakhs of rupees, the police said.

The police also recovered 50 CPUs, 48 monitors, three mobile phones and two WiFi routers, among other items from the fake call centre.
