Police bust gang duping youth by promising government jobs

Haridwar Police busted a gang cheating the youth of rural areas by promising them to jobs in various departments through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission on Thursday. Five accused including a Congress leader have been arrested in the case.  Five people including the politician and his two brothers were allegedly running the gang together.  The accused woman is a district level office bearer of the Congress.  The accused gang leader Ajay Nautiyal, brother of Congress woman leader is still absconding.

Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that five people including Ajay Nautiyal, his brother Vijay Nautiyal, sister Renu, resident of Tikkampur, Laksar were running the gang in the area.  These people used to collect lakhs of rupees in the name of providing government jobs to the unemployed in various government departments.  In addition to this, they were giving fake appointment letters of Public Service Commission and Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission by taking fake interviews in the prominent hotels of the city. The police also recovered details of 15 bank accounts which the team is investigating.

The SSP said that this gang made fake officers wearing army and police uniforms. They used these impersonators also while taking interviews of their targets. The gang used to give false assurance of job to the unemployed by claiming 10 per cent departmental quota in various departments.  After that they used to take between Rs five lakh and Rs 10 lakh from each candidate.  The accused used forged appointment certificates of candidates, electronic items, fake stamps of designation of various departments and several mobile phones used in their crimes apart from more than a dozen passbooks and cheque books.
