Police bust prostitution racket in Haridwar guest house

The police arrested 19 accused including eight women on Friday on charges of running a prostitution racket under the guise of a guest house in Haridwar’s Kaliyar area. The police also rescued a minor girl during the raid on the guest house, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said. He said that the police received confidential information that a prostitution racket was being run in a guest house in the Kaliyar area. The anti -human trafficking unit along with the police raided the place and found many men and women in a compromised position. The teams arrested 19 people including 11 men and eight women along with objectionable items from the site. The SSP said that a minor girl was also rescued from there who was also allegedly being pushed into prostitution there. The main accused in the case is Mustafa who allegedly operated the whole racket. He allegedly used to bring poor girls and women from other areas into his guest house under the pretext of providing them work and then pushed them into prostitution. He had been running this racket for considerable time in Haridwar. A case was also registered against him in the past for his alleged involvement in the prostitution, Dobhal said. He informed that the police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections and will soon present him in court. The police also contacted the departments concerned to take care of the rescued minor. The police are also investigating how the minor girl ended up in the guest house. Pushing a minor into prostitution is a heinous crime and strict action will be taken against all guilty parties, he added.
