The police have started to conduct raids in other states to nab the gang that provided stolen vehicles to the gang that committed robbery in Reliance Jewels store in Dehradun on November 9, said the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. He said that the police arrested the main accused of the robbery, Akhilesh alias Abhishek on November 22 after a detailed interrogation from the Rajepur area of Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

Besides this, the police also arrested three other accused who allegedly provided funding and other means for the robbery after interrogation in Bihar. He said that the Dehradun police on Thursday brought them here on transit remand to gather more information about other culprits involved in the robbery. It has been revealed during the interrogation here so far that the gang leader had directed the robbers to change their appearance immediately after committing the robbery. This was the main reason it was extremely difficult for the authorities to identify the robbers by matching their appearance before and after the robbery with the help of video footage and photographs caught on CCTV during the robbery.

During the interrogation of the main accused Abhishek, the police got information about the involvement of the other two accused Prince and Vikram Kushwaha in the robbery besides the two other accused Avinash Kumar and Rahul. Avinash is also allegedly involved in dozens of criminal cases in Bihar. The remaining accused will also be nabbed soon, said SSP.

He said that Dehradun police are putting all efforts into catching each person involved in the robbery in any way. The police have gathered crucial evidence in the case from other states and many are still in other states for weeks to collect proof. The police teams are interrogating the arrested accused and have collected crucial information. All culprits will certainly be put behind bars soon, he added.
