PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar

In two major actions against those who were found troubling and harassing people in SIIDCUL area under Haridwar district, the Haridwar police have arrested six men who were allegedly creating nuisance on roads and also taken into custody 12 men who were allegedly indulging in mumbo jumbo while impersonating as ascetics under the Operation Kalnemi.

Informing this, the SIIDCUL police station in-charge, Nitesh Sharma said that police had to arrest six youths who were found making loud noises on roads and impeding traffic flow. “Efforts were made to control them, but as they did not control themselves and continued making nuisance, they were arrested,” he said, adding that most of them were from Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar.

He further said that the 12 men- arrested for posing as saints and exploiting people’s weakness through black magic activities- were also mostly from Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar district of Uttarakhand.

Sharma warned that such stern actions would continue and those to be found harassing and exploiting people would be dealt with appropriately under the relevant laws.    “Police are active and alert and law and order will be maintained by all means,” he warned.
