PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun
Dehradun police have obtained access to CCTV cameras installed in pubs, bars, hotels, and restaurants, and these are being connected to the police monitoring system under Operation Prahar. So far, around 50 establishments have provided access to their CCTV cameras to the police.
Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Singh Dobal said that these cameras are now being monitored regularly through the control room. This will help the police keep a close watch on criminal activities and take quick action if any incident happens. A special technical team has also been formed to coordinate with the owners and collect CCTV access from more establishments.
The SSP had earlier held a meeting with pub, bar, and hotel owners and asked them to cooperate in this initiative. All owners have assured their support. Police are now working to connect CCTV cameras of the remaining establishments as well. Officials said that this step will improve security in public places, help control rule violations, and prevent crimes in the city.
