Police gets Rs 65.38 crore from Centre under SASCI scheme

The Central government has approved Rs 65.38 crore for the Uttarakhand police under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme 2024-25. Financial assistance is provided under this scheme to the State governments in the form of a 50-year interest- free loan for capital investment projects. This fund was approved on September 20 and will be used for major construction projects of the police in the State. Out of Rs 65.38 crore, Rs 28.09 crore will be used for the construction of 156 residential buildings of the police and Rs 37.29 crore for the construction of administrative buildings for six police stations and 14 police outposts.
The Uttarakhand director general of police Abhinav Kumar said that these crucial construction projects will undoubtedly strengthen the State’s law and order and lead to new milestones of success. The new buildings will provide a better working environment for police personnel, resulting in significant improvements in their efficiency and morale. This will have a positive impact on the quality of police services provided to the public, he said. The DGP also appreciated the special efforts of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and stated that he has been continuously working to enhance the efficiency and capability of the Uttarakhand police both technically and financially. He also expressed gratitude to the central government for prioritising public safety in the State through this vital infrastructure investment. This support marks another significant step toward empowering and making the Uttarakhand police more effective.
