Police have arrested two accused on Thursday in mobile snatching case reported in the Cantt area. The accused have been identified as
Lad Singh (19) and Lucky Singh (22). The stolen mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the crime were also recovered from their possession. Based on the complaint, FIR was registered in Section 304(2) BNS at Kotwali Cantt police station.
The incident had taken place on February 7 when the wife of the complainant Pradeep, a resident of Garhi Cantt, was returning home from Tapkeshwar Road to Sherbagh Road. As per the complainant, three motorcycle-borne persons came from behind, snatched her mobile phone and fled.
The team checked CCTV footage from the area and gathered information with the help of local sources. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the two accused from near the Post Office Tiraha during checking.
During questioning, the accused are said to have told police that they are addicted to drugs and committed the crime to arrange money for their addiction.
Police said they were planning to sell the stolen phone but were caught before they could do so.
