The police are optimistic that they will get information about the jewellery looted from Reliance Jewels from the robbery mastermind Shashank Singh who was arrested on Saturday from Bihar’s Patna. Singh was arrested after months of struggle and hard work of Dehradun police which is also being appreciated by police of other states, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. He said that Shashank who planned the Reliance Jewels robbery usually hired new people for every robbery which made it difficult to gather information about other accused and the looted jewellery. He said, “The leaders of these gangs are quite cunning and have been committing crimes across the country. They somehow managed to deceive the authorities too and then commit other crimes. We worked for months to nab the mastermind and our team stayed for several weeks in several cities of other states to collect evidence in the case. Police of other states have also appreciated us and thanked us too. Shashank will reach Dehradun on Tuesday after which we will try to gather maximum information regarding the case and jewellery looted by his gang.” Singh also informed that the alleged member of Shashank’s gang Vikas Kumar who was arrested from Gujarat’s Mehsana on Sunday had also allegedly shot two policemen during a bank robbery in Bihar’s Sonpur district. The SSP said that Kumar along with his accomplices was also planning to rob a jewellery store in Mehsana on Shashank’s order. He said that the robbery was prevented because of Dehradun’s police who were staying there to gather evidence in the case. “We have strong evidence against all accused arrested in the case and they all will be brought to justice,” Singh added.
