Police HQ buying rescue motorboats & other equipment to boost rescue & relief works

The police headquarters is purchasing one speed rescue motorboat and two rescue motorboats to be used in rescue and relief operations. The director general of police, Ashok Kumar informed that these boats will be used for the tourists visiting the Tehri dam reservoir, the local residents, during water related emergencies, during ceremonial baths held from time to time, Kanwad Mela and the Kumbh Mela.

The speed rescue motorboat will be capable of reaching speeds of upto 25 nautical miles per hour while the rescue motorboats will be able to reach speeds of upto 20 nautical miles per hour. The DGP said that the induction of these rescue boats will definitely enhance the work efficiency of the Uttarakhand police water rescue teams.

In addition to this, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) deep diving team, water police and flood relief PAC team are being equipped with latest disaster related equipment. Various items including life jackets, rafts, personal throw bag, scuba diving suit, floating rescuer station, rechargeable mobile remote area lighting system, dry bag, dry suit and other equipment are being purchased for these teams. It is pertinent to mention here that the water police, SDRF deep diving team and flood relief PAC team are posted along with the necessary equipment in the Kumbh Mela area in Haridwar, Tehri lake, Muni Ki Reti, Devprayag, Shivpuri, Lakshmanjhula, Srinagar, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Bhimtal, Ramnagar, Kathgodam, Nanakmatta, Gularbhoj, Banbasa and Tanakpur. Apart from this, in order to further improve the response time of the fire service, various fire fighting and emergency related equipment like mini high pressure pump, proximity suit, backpack set with water mist and other items are also being procured.
