After the arrest of the alleged prime accused of the Haldwani riot Abdul Malik, the Nainital police have intensified the search for his absconding son Abdul Moed. He was also equally responsible for instigating the violence in Vanbhulpura on February 8, as per the claims of the police.
The police had been searching for Malik in various States since the violence on February 8 that killed at least seven people and injured over 100 persons including several police personnel, government officials and media persons. He was nabbed from Delhi along with two others on Saturday. The court granted 10- day police custody remand (PCR) to the police the same day until March 6. An official involved in the investigation team said that Malik has revealed about the places including Gujarat and Maharashtra where he went to hide for 16 days.
Besides this, it was also reportedly claimed by Malik’s lawyer that he was not present in Haldwani when the riot occurred in Vanbhulpura. However, the officials claimed that they have all the evidence to prove why Malik is one of the main accused of the riot. It is also being speculated that Malik’s son Moed has fled to Nepal but the official informed that it is not true as per the current police investigation. They claimed that police teams are efficiently working day and night and no matter where Moed hides, he will be arrested soon like his father.
