The officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar on Friday flagged off four self balancing electric scooters from the Police Headquarters to patrol the busy areas of Haridwar. The police will patrol busy areas like ghats, marketplaces and busy streets, among others, to ensure the safety of tourists and local citizens.
These eco- friendly electric scooters were donated by Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, officials said. They informed that these scooters are equipped to navigate narrow streets, allowing police personnel to efficiently monitor walking paths, Ganga ghats and crowded areas of the Haridwar. This will help the police considerably during peak tourist season and Char Dham Yatra.
Kumar also stated that these scooters will be helpful to streamline crowd management and emphasised on their environmental benefits. He said, “These scooters, which can move easily in narrow streets, will help in crowd management. Apart from this, these electric scooters are also environmentally friendly. So far, eight personnel from Haridwar have been trained to operate these self balancing electric scooters.” Besides this, the DGP also said that such scooters will also be used in crowded streets and marketplaces of the Dehradun district like in Mussoorie’s Mall Road and Paltan Bazaar.
