The police said that they are looking into the digital footprints and social media activities of the air traffic controller (ATC) in-charge of Pantnagar Airport Ashish Chausali (35) who was found dead in his room on Monday wearing women’s clothes and makeup. The police have ruled out the murder angle as the post-mortem report clearly shows that Chausali died from hanging, the superintendent of police (City) of Rudrapur Manoj Katyal said.
He told The Pioneer that as per the investigation so far, the deceased was leading a happy life and they have found nothing so far that showed he had trouble with anybody in his personal life. The police are now focussing on his virtual presence and interaction on social media platforms. “The deceased was found dead in women’s clothes and makeup and it is possible he was in touch with such people online who forced him into it. It is possible that he was involved in some online games like Blue Whale that pushed people to do strange activities and instigated them to commit suicide a few years ago. We are investigating all possibilities,” the SP said.
He further informed that the police have also been checking his bank transactions and questioning people who used to interact with him daily. “The police have found some unusual transactions by the deceased which we are investigating further. We have also found some other confidential information. We will soon interrogate his colleagues again who first found his body. They are currently in Pithoragarh where the deceased’s family is carrying out his final rituals. We will recreate the scene to know exactly how they found the body which will help us to understand the situation better,” the SP added.
