Police nab culprit within 24 hours for robbing elderly couple

The Dehradun police have nabbed a 25-year-old man for robbing an elderly couple within 24 hours on Sunday. In a Press conference on Sunday, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri informed that Herbertpur resident Pankaj Sharma filed a complaint that a man forcibly entered his house on December 4, robbed his house and hit his old father. He informed that the Vikasnagar police immediately started the investigation and found the culprit with the loot in Dhakrani village of Vikasnagar on Sunday within 24 hours. The DIG said, “The accused has confessed that he robbed the house of the old couple.
He said that he selected that particular house to rob because he knew that only the old couple live there as he had done some construction work in their house a few months ago. He has stated during the investigation that he is an addict and is in debt. He has also confessed to an attempt to rob an ATM in the Dhakrani area in October this year.” Khanduri said that the police have filed cases against the accused under the relevant acts and he will be presented in court soon.
