Dehradun police arrested four accused including three women on charges of robbing a senior citizen in the Patelnagar area. All accused belong to Punjab, as per the officials. The complainant had filed a police complaint on June 19 that a woman reportedly tried to strike up a conversation with his mother when she was walking home and pretended to know her. She allegedly started to walk with his mother and then offered to drop her home by insisting that she get into a car that arrived from nearby.

After the victim refused to get into the car, the woman allegedly forced her to get inside it where two women and a man were already seated, said the officials. They said that the accused forcibly removed a gold bangle from the victim’s hand and left the woman on the street nearly 200 metres away.  A team was formed under the supervision of the superintendent of police (crime) Sarvesh Panwar and SP (city) Sarita Dobhal to nab the accused for robbing a senior citizen.

The officials said that the police caught the accused from the Vikasnagar area during checking near the Kulhal checkpost late on Tuesday night. The accused man has been identified as Hansraj from Patiala and the three women as Jatto, Raado and Tony who belong to Sangrur, and Patiala districts of Punjab respectively. The police have recovered the robbed ornament and the car used by the accused during the robbery. All four accused were presented to the court that sent them to judicial custody.
