The Dehradun Police arrested a gang member of inter-state robbers from Delhi who had attempted to rob Muthoot Finance Gold Loan company at Prince Chowk in Dehradun during January. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the team involved in nabbing the gang member. He informed in a Press Conference on Tuesday that a robbery attempt was made at the said company on January 20. He said that some men took a security guard as a hostage that night and broke the lock of the main gate and other locks with their pieces of equipment to enter the strong room of the company but they failed to break into the room. When they failed to rob the company, the accused left their equipment and fled from the scene. The company filed a complaint the next day and the police started the investigation. Khanduri informed that the police got the information that one of the accused- Istak Aalam involved in the attempted robbery was about to arrive in Delhi from Chennai following which, the police team nabbed him from Delhi Nizamuddin railway station on March 7 during the night. The accused is a Jharkhand resident and has also mentioned to the police about the involvement of 10 other accused in the said attempted robbery during the investigation, informed the SSP. He said that the accused has informed that they generally used to involve Nepalese men in their gang before carrying out a robbery. People across the country believe them to commonly work as a security guard which helped them to scan their target places in the name of getting a security job. The SSP said, “He said that their gang uses a local vehicle rather than a private vehicle to flee the scene after robbing a place. They never used a cellular network but rather interact with each other through internet calls. The accused has confessed of carrying out robberies in other states too like Maharashtra and Delhi and he was just returning from Chennai where they had planned another robbery too.”
