Dehradun police have gone on high alert ahead of New Year’s Eve and New Year due to the expected arrival of a large number of tourists in the district. Police teams continuously carried out checking drives in both urban and rural areas. The police keep surveillance through drones in Mussoorie and Dehradun.
According to police sources, they are checking vehicles at district borders and on roads too, using breath analysers to stop drunk driving. Special forces are now in high gear to maintain law and order during the celebration. To ensure the safety of tourists and local people, a large police force has been deployed at all major tourist places, officials said.
Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ajai Singh said that police are keeping a close watch on public places during New Year celebrations. He categorically said that any kind of hooliganism or disturbance in the name of celebration would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the violators.
Dehradun SSP personally keeps monitoring the security arrangements and regularly reviewing the situation.
