Police personnel in 9 districts to get weekly off from new year
The State’s director general of police, Ashok Kumar has directed that police personnel posted in the nine mountainous districts be granted weekly leave from the new year. He informed that in order to boost the morale and enhance work efficiency of the police personnel, in the first phase the head constables and constables posted in all police stations, posts and police lines will be granted weekly off from January 1, 2021 onward. This step is being taken on an experimental basis in the nine mountainous districts of Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Champawat. However, on the weekly off, the police personnel will not be allowed to leave the headquarters and will be considered to be on reserve duty. Under special circumstances like disaster, accident and law and order situation, the police station in-charge can call personnel on duty from their weekly off if needed.
Apart from this, while reviewing works of the fire service, the DGP directed that the 29 types of NOCs issued to industrial units and other buildings should be made online, transparent and time bound from February 1 next year. He directed that most of the NOCs should be issued in 15 days of application being received while a few types of NOCs should be issued within a month of the application being received. He also stressed on the need for focusing on improving the fire response time and training of fire service personnel.
