In latest news from Uttarakhand, a fortnight after the Vanbhulpura violence that left five dead and several injured, Nainital police have taken cognizance of a video circulating on the social media platforms that purportedly shows someone distributing money among the people in the violence-hit area of Haldwani. A senior district police officer said they are now conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter, probing the account number, registration number and PAN number of the NGO that is believed to have posted the video. Further, he urged the people to ignore provocative and misleading posts made with malafide intentions.
Notably, the video purportedly shows a youth belonging to an NGO giving cash to the people in the riot-affected area.
The police officer further said that appropriate actions might be taken against the NGO after the investigation is completed.
