Final decision to be taken after considering all suggestions & with public consent: SSP
Considering heavy traffic congestion on the weekends, the Dehradun police have proposed to commence the odd-even system for vehicles to regulate traffic. The senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh along with traffic police officials also interacted with citizens via Facebook Live on Sunday evening to get their feedback on the proposal. The police received over 200 comments in the live session which lasted about 40 minutes.
Talking about the odd-even system to regulate the traffic on weekends, he said that the police will take suggestions from the general public, business community, parents and other stakeholders regarding this proposal. He said that the final decision will be taken only after reviewing and examining all the suggestions and with the consent of the general public. If this system is implemented here, the police will give exemption to vehicles of all essential services, commercial vehicles, vehicles related to emergency services, parents’ vehicles, two wheelers, government vehicles and tourist vehicles coming from other districts and States, said Singh.
Many also mentioned their issues with traffic in the district and what the authorities can do to prevent or minimise them. Singh directed the traffic police to note all the complaints and take action accordingly.
