Police recover 415 lost mobile phones worth Rs 70 lakh

Dehradun police have recovered 415 lost mobile phones worth more than Rs 70 lakh and returned them to their owners on Saturday. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Singh Dobal handed over the recovered mobile phones to their owners.
According to the police, the Cyber Crime Cell team used surveillance methods to trace the lost phones from different parts of Uttarakhand and other States. The total value of the recovered phones is around Rs 70.45 lakh.
Police said that they are using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal to track lost mobile phones and take quick action to recover them. They also appealed to the public not to buy mobile phones from unknown persons without proper bills and identity proof.
Officials added that such efforts will continue to help people and control illegal activities related to stolen mobile phones.
