The police recovered over Rs 16.17 lakh cash from a man during checking in the Doiwala area on Thursday. The police are carrying out intensive checks daily under the campaign to prevent the illegal transfer and use of money in view of the ensuing assembly elections next month. The police informed that during such checking in the Laltappad area of Doiwala, police inspector Kavindra Rana stopped a car for checking and recovered Rs 16,17,500. The police said that the man was unable to give any viable explanation for the money. The officials of the Income Tax department were informed about the matter and the authorities are looking into the matter, informed the police.
