The police filed an FIR against the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Mehra Dasauni late on Thursday on charges of violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The officials said that the convenor of the BJP IT cell Ajit Negi gave a written complaint to the police late on Thursday that Dasauni posted a picture of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on her Facebook page along with false and objectionable statements with the aim to tarnish his image and defame him just a day before the polling on Friday. The complainant stated that the post was meant to mislead people just a few hours before the elections against the guidelines of MCC. The officials said that the police registered the FIR against Dasauni under various relevant sections including MCC violations after the complaint. The police are investigating the matter and will act further in the matter accordingly, they added.
