Police seize 24K capsules in Rishikesh

The police have claimed to seize a total of 24,000 capsules allegedly meant to be supplied for misuse from the home of a medical store operator in Rishikesh on Thursday. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar said that informers tipped off the police about a medical shop operator Rahul Kumar who allegedly sells prescription drugs in his chemist shop located near Durga Mandir IDPL in Rishikesh besides keeping a big stock at his house. He said that the Kumar was arrested after recovering a total of 24,000 prescription capsules from his house in the presence of drug inspector Anita Bharti.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, added the SSP. He said that the police in-charges across the district have been directed to run a drive against drug smugglers and illegal drugs like smack, ganja, intoxicating pills and injections to make the district drug-free.
