The traffic police in Dehradun have started lopping at major trisections and intersections of the city as overgrown branches of many trees cover the traffic lights making it difficult for commuters to get a clear traffic signal.
The superintendent of police (traffic) Akshay Konde said that tree branches covering the traffic lights pose a serious threat to vehicular traffic considering which, the traffic police have started lopping across the city after taking permission from the Forest department. On the direction of Konde, the traffic inspector Pradeep Kumar along with other personnel carried out the lopping of branches of trees that were covering traffic lights at the Income Tax intersection on Sunday.
The SP said that the police will continue this initiative to ensure the smooth operation of traffic across the city.
