The respective police station in-charge will be held accountable in case of severe traffic disruption during the Char Dham Yatra which is scheduled to commence on May 10. The traffic plan prepared by the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag must be publicised widely through all mediums for the smooth operation of traffic during Chardham Yatra. The additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) AP Anshuman said this in a meeting held at Police headquarters on Wednesday regarding traffic management in Char Dham Yatra. The meeting was attended by all senior police officials of the Garhwal range including the inspector general of police of Garhwal range, Karan Singh Nagnyal, deputy inspector general (Law and Order) P Renuka and respective SSPs and SPs. Anshuman instructed the officials to create a grid of CCTV cameras in the main areas of their respective districts. The feed from these cameras should be shared with the district control room as well as with Renuka. He said that it is important to identify black spots on travel routes and put up signage in a timely manner. In view of the possibility of the Yatra route being blocked, complete preparations should be ensured in advance by coordinating with the respective DMs, Border Road Organisation (BRO) and all other departments concerned. Besides this, the assigned police official should also stay in coordination with DMs and other departments concerned regarding repairing the damaged roads in time. He said that display boards and hoardings should be installed on all Char Dham routes in different languages regarding travel related information and other guidelines. The ADG also directed respective in-charges of traffic police in all districts of the Garhwal region to stay connected through WhatsApp and other mediums for a quick exchange of information regarding smooth traffic operation and traffic management on Chardham Yatra routes. The respective SSPs/ SPs should also assign police teams based on requirements to prevent incidents of poisoning and human trafficking at bus and railway stations during the Chardham Yatra. Adequate arrangements for food and accommodation should also be made on time for the police personnel deployed on Char Dham Yatra related duties.  Every district must complete verification of all people arriving from other districts and states to work during Char Dham Yatra and tourist season like in hotels, dhabas, shops, drivers, and people providing horse and mule riding services among others, he added.
