In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Dehradun for the inauguration of the 38th National Games on Tuesday, extensive security measures have been put in place to ensure a seamless and safe event. A high-level briefing was conducted at the Maharana Pratap Sports College Stadium on Monday, where top officials outlined strict protocols for the police personnel deployed for the occasion.

During the briefing, the additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) V Murugesan informed that the area within a two-kilometre radius of the venue will be a no-flying zone, prohibiting the operation of drones. This restriction will be strictly enforced during the VVIP programme. The attendees at the venue will not be permitted to carry bags, water bottles, food items or inflammable substances. Police personnel stationed at the entry points will conduct rigorous frisking to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

The officials instructed all personnel to report to their designated duty points three hours before their shift and gather precise instructions from their supervising officers. A thorough inspection of the venue and its surrounding areas was emphasised to eliminate any security lapses. Stringent guidelines were issued to maintain discipline among the personnel, with a complete ban on the use of mobile phones while on duty.

Officers were cautioned not to leave their assigned posts without prior notice, as any negligence would invite strict disciplinary action. Nodal officers were tasked with verifying the identity of all security personnel, whether in uniform or plainclothes and briefing them thoroughly to ensure clarity in their roles. They were also directed to prevent any congregation of police personnel at one location during duty hours.
