Police take actions against boozers on roads in Haridwar

Under Operation Maryada, the Haridwar police launched actions late at night against those who were found boozing while keeping the cars on roadsides. Police also warned such people against any attempt to harass the pilgrims coming on char dham yatra. It is learnt that police issued chalans to 28 people for boozing in car kept on the roadsides. Notably, the char dham yatra is now going in full swing with lakhs of pilgrims coming from across India.
SP City Haridwar Swatantra Kumar Singh said that under the instruction of the SSP Haridwar Ajay Singh, the police constituted four teams and conducted checking drives along the National Highway in Bahadarabad area under Operation Maryada to stop people from drinking alcohol while having cars parked on the roadsides. Police informed that they have collected Rs 7,000 as chalans from 28 persons for violating the laws, adding that such operations would continue in the coming days.
