Dehradun Police has claimed that their initiative of using shuttle service during Vasantotsav-2025 at Raj Bhawan to ensure a smooth transportation for visitors was a great success. The event, held from March 7 to 9, saw a large number of attendees, with more than one lakh people visiting the flower exhibition, as per Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh.
He stated that three parking locations, RT Ground Parking, 8 GR Parking and Mahindra Ground were designated for visitors’ vehicles in coordination with the Indian Army in Garhi cantonment area. A shuttle service was introduced for the first time, operating between these parking areas and the event venue to facilitate the movement of visitors. The service was managed by the police and ensured that visitors could commute without inconvenience.
The SSP said that traffic management was planned in advance, with parking and information boards placed at various locations. Parking restrictions were imposed along routes from Shaurya Sthal to the chief minister’s residence and CSD Tiraha to prevent congestion. The arrangements helped maintain smooth traffic flow even when two processions passed through the Hathibadkala route on March 8, he claimed. He informed that a total of 89 police officers and personnel were deployed in and around Raj Bhawan for traffic regulation. He stated that about 30,000 to 35,000 people attended the event each day.
The police followed a structured plan to manage the large number of visitors and their vehicles, ensuring that everyone reached the venue without disruption. He said that for senior citizens, the police had made additional arrangements like, along with the shuttle service, e-rickshaws were deployed to transport them from the parking areas to Raj Bhawan. Those who could not access e-rickshaws due to crowding were transported by police vehicles. Singh claimed that the traffic and transport arrangements were appreciated by visitors and the police will continue to implement measures to manage public gatherings efficiently in Dehradun.
