Dehradun’s bustling Paltan Bazaar has recently become a hotspot for youngsters making dance reels for social media platforms, but their activities are drawing public criticism. According to locals, these individuals frequently ask people to stop their two-wheelers while they record videos, often to provocative music. They also capture bystanders’ reactions, some of whom, particularly women, appear visibly shocked or uncomfortable, and upload the footage online. These men record their videos during both the day and night, often causing traffic disruption and public disturbance. Some videos receive thousands of likes and comments on social media platforms like Instagram. Many people also express frustration over the disruptions in the comments section of social media platforms like Instagram with some tagging the local police in hopes of action. When The Pioneer talked to circle officer of Traffic Police in Dehradun, Anuj Arya, he stated that he was unaware of the issue. However, he assured that he will take appropriate measures against individuals disrupting traffic and creating a nuisance. He also urged people not to record videos at the cost of others’ convenience and safety.
