Chargesheet likely to be filed in 10 days by police
The Uttarakhand police will soon file an application in court to conduct a narco test of the three accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Though the police have all the evidence, the narco test will strengthen the case against the accused, including the main accused Pulkit Arya. The chief spokesman of Uttarakhand police, ADG V Murugesan stated this in a Press conference here at the police headquarters on Sunday. He said that the police have gathered all the required evidence against the accused in the case and are waiting for the pending points to be cleared. In the next 10 days, the police will file a chargesheet in court. Talking about the ‘VIP’ the victim was allegedly asked to provide special service to, he said that people living in the presidential suite of the resort were reportedly called VIPs as per the investigation. However, the police will appeal for the narco test to make things more clear. He said, “An application will be submitted in the court for the narco test of the accused soon. Things will be clear after the narco test is done. Our investigation is almost complete. We will file a chargesheet in the court in 10 days.”
It will be recalled that the body of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari- working as a receptionist at a resort- from Pauri district was recovered from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh on September 24. The police arrested Pulkit Arya- the owner of Vanantra Resort and his two accomplices Ankit Gupta and Saurabh Bhaskar on September 23 as the three accused of Ankita’s murder. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the matter had added charges of sexual harassment under section 354A of IPC and Section 5 under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act against them along with the charges of murder (IPC 302), criminal conspiracy (IPC 120B) and concealment of evidence (IPC 201) sections on October 9. The police also invoked Gangster Act against the three accused in the case on October 30. Murugesan stated that Uttarakhand police are investigating the matter without any fear or favour and appealed to the public to believe in the police. “I appeal to the public to have patience while police are working on it. I request all neither to pay attention to baseless rumours nor spread them as it causes hindrance in the investigation of the case,” said Murugesan.
