Police to confiscate assets of culprits in fake BAMS degree case

The police will act against two main accused Imlakh Khan and Imran Khan in the fake Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree case under the Gangster Act. The police registered a case against them under the said act on Wednesday. Both accused were allegedly providing counterfeit degrees for over a decade and have acquired assets worth crores of rupees by illegal means, the officials said. They informed that the police are currently identifying all such assets to take action to confiscate them soon, the officials said. They informed that Imlakh allegedly prepared counterfeit degrees of various colleges of Karnataka. He was arrested by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) from Ajmer in February last year but the case was later transferred to Dehradun police. The police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. Imlakh was allegedly providing counterfeit degrees to many people for over a decade and some of whom were suspected to be working as government employees. The officials said that the police are working to identify such fake doctors along with all other culprits in the case. The SIT has so far arrested over 22 accused in the case. The officials said that many cases like fraud and attempt to murder among other serious crimes are also registered against both accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.
