Uttarakhand Police will monitor polling stations and surrounding areas located in extremely inaccessible areas through drones. Since authorities cannot install CCTV cameras in several areas due to the difficult geographical conditions of the State, the police have adopted a planned process to keep surveillance by drones at such polling stations, roads and areas where surveillance through CCTVs, photos and videography is not possible.
The officials informed that the police have set up temporary control rooms to observe the pictures sent by these drones. The control rooms will send information about suspicious persons or activities on analysis of the drone’s information to the election operation centre set up in Police headquarters. The information will be then sent to the officer concerned deployed on the duty to take immediate action as per the law. The police have made a systematic process to ensure law and order related issues can be tackled easily even in remote areas of the State, the officials added
