Rudraprayag police are yet to identify the woman who was booked for showering currency notes on the Shivling inside the Garbh Graha (sanctum sanctorum) of the Kedarnath temple as seen in a short video clip that has been widely circulated on social media since Sunday. The police teams are probing the matter and there is no development in the case that can be shared at present, said the Rudraprayag superintendent of police Vishakha Ashok Bhadane.
She told The Pioneer that the complaint was filed by the officials concerned of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) on Monday seeking appropriate action in the matter and the police started the investigation after the registration of the complaint in Sonprayag Kotwali of the district. “There is no significant update on the matter so far. Police are working on the case and will take action against the culprits accordingly,” added the SP.
The director general of police Ashok Kumar also said on Tuesday that the police will not tolerate such acts that hurt the religious sentiments of people and action will be taken against the guilty party. “The police have registered the complaint on Monday and are investigating the matter. Acts that hurt the religious sentiments of people will not be tolerated in the State. Police have already taken action against thousands of people under Operation Maryada this year. Action will be taken against the guilty party in this case too,” said Kumar.
It is pertinent to mention here that a video clip was widely circulated on various social media platforms recently showing a woman wearing a white saree showering currency notes on the Shivling inside Garbh Graha while a priest is performing worship in Kedarnath. This clip created a stir on Monday on social media platforms and among devotees of lord Shiva. The devotees have called this act disrespectful and insulting to all devotees.
