The chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) Kusum Kandwal said the implementation of Uttarakhand State policy for women will ensure their all-round development. She said this while expressing gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving the implementation of the said policy soon across the State.
Commenting on the implementation of this policy, Kandwal informed that the USCW prepared the second draft of the policy in December 2022. After that, the commission invited suggestions from women across the State to incorporate their inputs into the women’s policy. In March, the commission handed over the policy draft to the government for official implementation. The Center for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG), Planning Department of Uttarakhand collaborated with experts, stakeholders and officials from various fields to further enhance the women’s policy draft. She said that it is a matter of pride that the historic “Women Policy of Uttarakhand State” is being implemented under the leadership of CM Dhami. The policy will aim to ensure the all-round development, prosperity and well-being of women in the State. In addition, it will also work towards empowering and strengthening both urban and rural women, she added.
