Targetting the Congress’ Swabhiman Yatra, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that holding political rallies instead of helping the needy during disasters is unfortunate. The Congress is adopting an irresponsible attitude in the time of disaster, said the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt. Interacting with media persons, he said that the people of Uttarakhand are not taking their Congress leaders and their political rallies seriously.
The Congress should not be under any misapprehension as it has the most to fear from its leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit, he opined. The senior Congress leader has visited Uttarakhand on various occasions and the results of the 2017 and 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections and 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections are known to all. Experience has shown that the BJP benefits whenever Rahul Gandhi visits Uttarakhand, said Bhatt.
Accusing the Congress of irresponsible politics, he said that on the one hand senior Congress leader Harish Rawat sits on a chair in water to stage a drama on the issue of flood, on the other hand the party is busy taking out political rallies at the time of disaster. Like their promises and announcements, the rallies are just an attempt to remain a subject of talk. “The Congress has announced more than half a dozen political rallies this year out of which the start of some and the conclusion of many was not known about. The issues on which they announce to take out rallies are issues on which the people are standing with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, he claimed.
