The polling team returned to the district headquarters from the remotest polling booth in the district- Borbalda. The polling team which returned to the collection centre late on Tuesday was welcomed by the SVEEP team. The polling team members covered a distance of 15 kilometres from Badiyakot to reach this booth in the last village of the district. The polling party for Borbalda had left on February 12 and returned to the district headquarters late on Tuesday.
The personnel deployed on polling duty at Borbalda booth included sector magistrate Vijay Melkani, presiding officer Mohit Kaushal, first polling officer Akhilesh Semwal, second polling officer Narayan Dutt Joshi, third polling officer Sanjay Kumar, PRD jawans Harish Ram and Vinod Ram. General observer Krishnakant Pathak, assistant nodal officer of SVEEP and other officials at the collection center welcomed the members of the polling party by garlanding them. The members of the polling party that went to Borbalda said that there was snow on the routes in the remote village. Due to this there was considerable difficulty in walking. There was light snowfall even on the day of polling while it also snowed on the afternoon they departed for the district headquarters. It is pertinent to mention here that due to various factors including lack of basic facilities, the number of voters in the village is not large. The village is not connected by motor road while lack of education, health and communication facilities has fuelled migration. The voter turnout at the Borbalda booth was 56.04 per cent. Out of the total 273 registered voters, 153 voters exercised their franchise.
