Pollution control board checking Deepawali pollution in Haldwani & Nainital

The pollution control board office in Haldwani is monitoring the pollution levels in Haldwani and Nainital cities in view of Deepawali. The monitoring is being undertaken a week prior and a week post Deepawali. Regional pollution officer Anurag Negi informed The Pioneer that the monitoring is being conducted according to the orders received from the administration.
The data collected will be submitted to the administration. He said that this arrangement will be in place for a total of 14 days. The pollution control board will attempt to ascertain the level of pollution caused by bursting of fireworks. Necessary measures may be taken on the basis of the monitoring report to be submitted to the authorities. Negi further informed that in general the board checks pollution level three times every month. Usually the pollution level remains normal during festivals, he added.
